Join A One-Day Glacier Hike Trip

Few people have the opportunity to see a glacier in their lifetime, let alone walk on one. Join us on a challenging and beautiful Glacier hike trip to the Coleman Glacier of Mt. Baker, where wildflower-riddled hillsides frame some of the most beautiful alpine scenery in the country.

Our professional mountain guides introduce you to alpine ecology and glaciology as you hike through old growth forest and cross crystal-clear creeks. Once at the toe of the glacier your guide will teach you how to put-on crampons and walk on the stunning glacier ice. See huge crevasses, meltwater holes, blue pools, and towering seracs. Watch marmots and pikas, and count dozens of species of wildflowers and birds.

Make sure to bring a good camera for this incredible experience. The Glacier hike trip is five miles round-trip and involves 2000 ft. of elevation gain. High-top hiking boots are required for use with crampons. Crampon rental is included in the cost of this trip.

Meet your guide at a Park & Ride en route to the trailhead. Drive 3 hrs. from Seattle to the Heliotrope Ridge Trailhead near Glacier, Washington (transportation is in your personal vehicle). After orientation we will hike 2 to 3 hours to the toe of the Coleman Glacier on Mt. Baker. Explore the glacier with your guide, visiting crevasses, blue pools, moulins (melt water holes), and maybe even seeing towering blocks of an ice collapse in the distance. Return along the same trail to reach your car at the trailhead. The trip finishes with an optional dinner at a restaurant on the way back to Seattle. We arrive back in Seattle between 9 and 10 pm.
