The Three Day Tanzania Safari from Miyar Adventures is usually coupled with our Kilimanjaro hike and is designed to give the best possible safari experience to our customer taking into account the relatively brief time limit and the fact that the Safari would be undertaken immediately before or after the hike. The destinations covered in the three days are Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater Park and Lake Manyara National Park. The three parks offer diverse wild life viewing opportunities and are in relative proximity to each other and Moshi so as to minimize road time.

If you are taking the Safari after your Kilimanjaro hike, this would be the last day when you return to Stella Maris from Kili. If you are planning to do the hike after Safari, we will transfer you to Stella Maris lodge from the Kilimanjaro Airport.

To help you rest and relax better, we provide accommodation in well appointed lodges during our Safari. This is important as you would be sleeping in tents during your Kilimanjaro hike. We would use Karatu Simba Lodge during our three day safari. Situated conveniently close to Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro, the lodge is a favorite pitstop during a safari, preferred for its amenities and appeal.
All safaris transports are in special purpose safari vehicles that allow safe and unhindered game viewing.
After an early breakfast at Stella Maris we will drive to the Tarangire National Park. This is a four hour drive. Established in 1970, the park takes its name from the Tarangire River, a permanent watercourse that cuts a swathe through the middle of the park, allowing fantastic views along the valley. On approaching the park, however, the most eye-catching aspect is the view of baobab trees rising from the plain. These trees are instantly recognizable by the leafless branches that protrude from their crown – almost as if they were the roots of a tree that was planted upside down. The scars on their trunks bear witness to the presence of large herds of elephant that Tarangire attracts.

The largely forested areas and high grasses most of the year make game viewing harder than on the short grass plains of the Serengeti, but during the dry months large numbers of animals congregate along the banks of the river. As well as elephant it’s possible to see wildebeest, buffalo, zebra, Thompson’s gazelle, eland and hartebeest, as well as leopard.

On Day 2 we will move from our lodge to Ngorongoro Crater, a vast volcanic caldera that offers tremendous gameviewing opportunities. We will embark on an unforgettable safari into the crater. Ngorongoro is one of the most picturesque settings for observing wildlife. With around 30,000 resident animals, the game viewing is excellent all year round and the photographic opportunities are unrivaled! Encounters with animals are frequent in this Garden of Eden, and there is a wide variety to see. Lake Magadi, the soda lake on the floor of the crater, is home to thousands of flamingos. This is also one of the best places to see the endangered black rhino.

Post Safari, we will again head to the lodge for the night.

On the last day of the Safari we will visit the Lake Manyara National Park. The park is centered around the alkaline Lake Manyara and is home to a wide variety of birds and mammals. More than 300 species of birds including flamingos, kingfishers and eagles and a host of mammals like elephants, lions, zebras, giraffes and monkeys in abundance make for exciting game viewing. There is a hippo pond in the park that is a hit with visitors.

We will return to Stella Maris lodge in Moshi after our Safari. Depending on our Kili hike itinerary, we will proceed to Kilimanjaro or drop you off at the airport the next day.
